How to Use The Built-In Rust Admin Menu

Mastering Rust's Built-In Admin Menu for Streamlined Server Management

In Rust's October 2021 Missions & Quality of Life Update, the developers introduced a new built-in Admin UI that allows server admins to manage their servers more efficiently. This guide covers the essential aspects of the Admin UI, highlighting how to manage players, server information, Convars, and user-generated content.

The Admin UI is divided into four sections: Players, Server Information, Convars, and User-Generated Content.

1. Players Section

The Players section offers a quick and easy way to manage players on your server. From here, you can view player details, spectate, and kick or ban players as necessary. Key information available in this section includes player name, Steam ID, IP address, connection time, violation level, and health.

2. Server Information Section

The Server Information section provides an overview of your server's current status, such as the hostname, number of players, uptime, and various performance metrics. This information can be used for troubleshooting server issues or monitoring server performance.

3. Convars Section

The Convars section allows admins to modify server-specific settings that can impact gameplay or enforce server rules. Convars control various aspects of the server, from animal populations and weather patterns to server descriptions and player kick settings.

4. User-Generated Content Section

The User-Generated Content section enables admins to remotely review player-created signs on the server, allowing for swift action against offensive or inappropriate content. The interface displays all signs on the map and their artist history, making it easy for admins to identify and delete problematic content.

Conclusion

Rust's built-in Admin UI offers a streamlined approach to server management, eliminating the need to remember numerous server commands and variables. With this powerful tool, you can effectively manage your Rust server and ensure a positive gaming environment for all players.
