Adding 2FA to your Tempest Portal account
Enabling Two Factor Authentication (2FA) with your Tempest portal account is recommended and a simple, straight forward process. You're probably already used to using 2FA with things like your personal email or your bank account, and getting your Tempest Portal account setup and secured
with 2FA is as quick as it is easy.
To get started, login to your Tempest Portal account here: https://portal.tempest.net/clientarea.php
From your account menu, select, "Security Settings".
Go ahead and click, "Click here to Enable".
If you're not already using Google Authenticator or Duo, now may be a good time to grab this from the Play Store or App Store.
Click, "Get Started". We're already almost done!
With your mobile device, you'll need to scan the QR code shown on your screen. Alternatively, you may enter the code provided to you manually.
Once entered, your phone will recognize the 2FA profile and will attempt to add it with your Tempest portal information as the label.
Your authentication app will give you a 6-digit numerical code. Enter this in the text field that is requesting it.
You've now enabled 2FA! Now, when logging in from a new device, IP, or after
your regular session expires you will be prompted to enter the 6-digit
2FA code that you can find on your device.
Your backup codes are very important, and also very private. Please back
these up in a secure manner, using a password manager or even go as far
as treating it like a crypto wallet's seed phrase. Being overly cautious
with security is never a bad thing, after all!
